Giddy Up!
Well today officially starts a wild and crazy next seven weeks. And I can't wait !!!
We have 150 people going on the Archdiocesan Ski Trip this weekend.. nothing like the 400 plus back in the glory days.. but 25 more people then last year.. with 3 new parishes joining us! They have 3 feet of snow... and I cant wait to play some snow football!
Monday when I get back I have a week of auditions for the St T's School musical. Three years ago I started running and directing the schools annual musical. We've done Wizard of Oz, Snow White, and Annie. This year we are doing Disney's Aladdin, Jr. Its acutally alot of fun.. practices are after school during March, April, May and the show is in Mid May for two nights. This year we anticipate about 30 in the cast, and about another 100 in our Chorus.
Back here in the Archdiocese during March we have CHAOS, the Jr High Youth Rally, and then on back to back days the Justice and Peace Day Conference and Youthfest. (I've already told my wife that I'll be living at the Retreat Center that weekend!).
From there I shift gears from Archdiocse and St T's to my other passion.. being the Assistant High School Band Director for my old high school. I am running Cranfords Music Department Trip to Orlando and Disney with 140 students and 15 adults. We have an equipment truck leaving Wed March 28th in the morning, 3 busses leaving later that day and me flying out that night to get down there faster. After a few days in Florida its back to Jersey and Holy Week.
For the parish here I 've got Stations of the Cross to put together, and a Breakfast with the Easter Bunny to run. Then things wind down with 20 members of our Youth Ministry Program heading out the day after Easter with members from 2 other groups to West Virginia for a week of Mission Work in the Morgantown and Osage, WV area.
Throw in there getting ready for Summer Camp already.. plans for the Cotillion in late April, and the NJ State Yotuh Rally, Spring drum line practices for the Marching Band... man I am going to be relying heavily on my calendar and to do lists to stay on track!
Besides all that and the day to day things here at St T's .. "Daddy Day Care" is in full effect in that now my wife recently changed jobs so Emily (1 year old) and Abby (3 1/2) are with me everyday now Monday to Friday with me at the Office. That in itself is an adventure! LOL
So.. though the Ski Trip is nice weekend away.. I'm ready to come back and "saddle in" for the "adventure" of the next 7 weeks.. hopefully you will join me at some point on my journey!
